Vantage's CEO, Andre D'Rozario, was recently featured in an interview with The Wall Street Transcript (TWST), where he discussed today's tanker market, the role of the shipbroker, and where Vantage is headed next.

A few highlights from the conversation:

• The market: The Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Strait of Hormuz closure and disruption in the Red Sea have pushed freight on some VLCC routes to multiples of where it was, even as fewer deals get done.

• The industry: Shipbroking is still not well understood in U.S. markets given the lack of shipbroking firms listed on a U.S. exchange. Brokers find the ship, execute the contract and follow the voyage, working across the whole barrel of oil. Because brokers earn on every deal they fix, it's hard for a shipbroker to earn zero as long as deal volume holds up.

• The business: Vantage aims to meaningfully grow its forward book of recurring term and project deals, helping the business hold up through future market cycles. Longer term, we'll keep Asia as our base while adding strategic partners in the West. Vantage remains a stable business that's still growing.
