Vantage’s Arpan Ghosal in Lloyd’s List on shadow fleet sanctions

Our Head of Research, Arpan Ghosal, was quoted in Lloyd’s List on 15 October on reports that the US is considering easing sanctions on some shadow fleet vessels.
His view is that the practical impact on freight rates is likely to be modest, because sanctions elsewhere and the condition of the fleet limit how much tonnage the market could really use. He expects “selective uptake rather than a wholesale return.”
